Research theme
Stem cells in adult tissues exist in a quiescent state. When they are needed in tissue homeostasis or repair, they exit a quiescent state and undergo symmetric/asymmetric cell division to give rise to differentiation-committed progenitor cells. Our group seeks to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying oriented stem cell division, stem cell activation, and cell fate determination. We also want to know how stem cells adopt to physiological changes in the body.
1) Epidermal stem cell proliferation and differentiation in skin homeostasis.
2) Cell fate determination of lymphoid cells via symmetric/asymmetric cell division.
3) Tissue stem cell activation during pregnancy.
